We're Going on A Leaf Hunt.......

 Last week in K2 we read We're Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger.

We talked about the story and then we went on our very own leaf hunt! We collected leaves of all different shapes, sizes and colours! The children also wanted to collect sticks of all different lengths... now we know why!
Once we got back to the classroom we sorted the leaves using different attributes. We talked about what we could do with the leaves and the students came up with a great idea! Let's make our own tree! Students used construction paper to cut out the tree trunk and used the sticks they collected to make the tree branches. They placed the leaves around the tree and finished it off with their Fall art work!

Halloween Party

We will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 28th. Your child may come to school dressed in costume. We will have a day full of games, treats and FUN! If your child would like to bring in treats to share with their friends (there are 26 students), please remember that treats must be nut free.

Book a Day Program

Dear Parents,

Today your Senior Kindergarten child was sent home with a book bag. We will be sending their book bag home daily so that your child will have the opportunity to practice their reading skills every evening. Please listen to them read, offering guidance and assistance when necessary. Remember to be patient and encouraging.

When your child has finished reading, discuss the story together. This will reinforce what they have read and improve comprehension skills. Date and sign the reading log and make sure your child returns both the book and reading log to school the next day in order to receive a new book.

The more your child reads, the more confident they will become while developing a life-long love of reading.

Dear Parents,

Our library time will now fall on a Wednesday (Day 5) until mid November. Please continue to take time to read the book with your child and return the book for our next library visit.

Scholastic Book Club

Today we sent home a Scholastic book order form with your child. If you would like to order any of the items, please fill out the order form and remember to follow the Ontario (ON) pricing. There are two ways to make your payment, either online with your credit card (see order form for details) or by cheque. If paying by cheque, please make cheques payable to Scholastic Canada and attach the cheque to the order form. We kindly ask that you return the form and payment by October 17th.
